What If
Episode 4 of my podcast – What If
What if, parents and grandparents quit telling the stories of how they were wronged to their children. Or tell it and say, but I forgive them. Would our children create their own stories not from a place of prejudice, judgement and hatred?
What if the protestors, that turn to rioting, stopped and thought about the lively hoods they are destroying and actually focused on change in policy with police and lawmakers? Could we live in a more peaceful society?
What if the curriculum for becoming a police officer included compassion and mindfulness training? Could we change how they react to a situation?
What if, all of us, world-wide approached the issue of racism from a place of love and forgiveness? Could we change the world?
What if, our elected government officials used their power and authority to help the American people, and I mean all Americans no matter what race, rather than use it to benefit themselves?
These what ifs came from some deep thinking and meditation. I’m in the process of reading/practicing The Course in Miracles Experiment written by Pam Grout. She takes the original Course in Miracles, adds some humor, and really brings it down to a relatable, doable process.
Lesson 75 titled The World As You’ve Never Seen it Before by Pam with an original lesson title of The Light Has Come; is where this episode began. In this lesson Pam writes about when John Lennon and Yoko Ono launched their War is Over campaign. When it was originally launched a deejay challenged John on how he and Yoko could start such a campaign and get by-in from the Vietnamese and our soldiers. To which John replied.” people need to remember that they’ve got the power – not the government or leaders or teachers.” In 2018 – Yoko re-launched the same campaign. When asked why, she simply said, “When we drop small pebbles, it immediately affects the ocean of the whole wide world. We’ll keep doing it. Together. We change and the world changes.”
This reminded me of 2nd Timothy Chapter 2, vs 22 – Turn from the wayward passions of youth, and pursue justice, integrity, love and peace
So, what if, everyone, everywhere world-wide committed to personal change right now, and instead of seeing the darkness they see the light from a place of love. Think of all that real power and the change for the good it could impart.
